Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the best forms of physical fitness you can possibly get. Running, biking and lifting weights are great, but they can not get you the results that BJJ will. Even Crossfit isn't in the same league as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. From the warm ups, the drilling, and eventually rolling (live grappling), you will be using and conditioning muscles in your body that you have never worked out before in your life.While you are getting in the best shape of your life, you are also learning a potentially life saving skill.

  • It's been proven time and time again that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the most effective martial arts in the world. There isn't one top MMA fighter in this world that does not include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in his or her training regiment. In the cage, and especially in the street, 9 times out of 10 the fight is going to the ground. That's why learning BJJ is so very important in self defense. Knowing how to punch and kick is great and can definitely help you get out of some situations, but if that is all that you know, as soon as the fight goes to the ground all those techniques you have learned on your feet are useless. They just won't work! In BJJ, you will learn to to control and subdue your opponent. You will effectively be able to defend yourself and defeat your opponent/attacker without throwing a single strike or leaving any kind of damage. Plus, BJJ is the only proven martial art where a smaller person can defeat a bigger and stronger opponent.

  • Learning to deal with defeat is very important because defeat is something that nobody can avoid. There isn't one person to ever walk this planet that hasn't been defeated or failed at doing one thing or another. It doesn't matter if you are an Olympic Gold Medalist wrestler or "the greatest street fighter of all time," when you first start training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, you will be defeated. That's just part of the process. You can't expect a white belt who has been training for 3 months to beat a black belt that's been training for ten years. As long as that white belt continues to go to practice, train, take notes, ask questions, and never quit, he will eventually start closing that gap. He will be getting submitted less and less and start submitting opponents more and more. Imagine the feeling of getting your first submission, knowing you earned it!

It's no secret that kids today are growing up in a harsh world full of distractions that can so easily lead to a less than successful future. With little to no gym time in school, unlimited access to video games, and social media constantly at their fingertips; excessive bullying and expectations to grow up way to fast has become an overwhelming trend. More and more kids are finding themselves getting into trouble, dropping out of school, or WORSE- committing suicide! Not being properly equipped to handle the harsh realities of life depletes kids of their self-esteem and often results in tragic outcomes.

At Revolution Academy we are fighting everyday to save these same kids. We've made it our mission to show all kids that they not only matter, but they can and will be successful. Through fun and strategically planned lessons, your child will learn self-defense, self-discipline, self-confidence, as well as how to give and expect respect.

Kickboxing

In this class, students learn to apply different striking styles from Kickboxing to Western Boxing. Safety is a major foundation in this type of training. Attention is geared at understanding how to use equipment properly, partner drilling safely, and use applications of striking safely to develop better form, power and endurance. An energized and total body workout is felt throughout the kickboxing class, from the circuit training, technical drills, sparring sessions and endurance routines. In this class you will learn boxing techniques and strategies, power rear leg kicks, effective use of front leg kicks, clinch work, use of training pads, elbow/knee/punching skills, and so much more.

No-Gi Jiu Jitsu

At Revolution Academy, we offer a dynamic No-Gi Jiu Jitsu program designed to challenge and improve our students’ martial arts skills. With a focus on precise movement and body control, our program is faster paced than traditional Gi training and super fun. Our talented instructors will help you master the techniques, whether you are new to martial arts or a seasoned practitioner.
